Traditional Irish breadmaking

Traditional Irish Bread Making

- In the heart of the home

Join me in my kitchen on the shores of Strangford Lough in County Down, just 30 minutes from Belfast. A warm welcome awaits you with some homemade buttermilk soda bannock fresh from the oven and a cuppa. Then we get the aprons on…

You’ll be learning how to make and bake a variety of traditional griddle breads. As our soda breads, wheaten and potato breads are made on the griddle, they are all ready to eat within 15 minutes of making them. There is no need to weigh or measure anything – we make these breads by hand in the traditional way.

By then, you’ll have worked up an appetite. You can enjoy some of my delicious soda focaccia bread, and other sweet treats. Don’t worry, what you don’t eat, you can take home with you. Most people leave with plenty of homemade breads that are perfect to have as part of an Ulster Fry or with a cup of tea.
